Garden Party Engagement Party Invite

They’re engaged!

I love working with fellow creatives and one of my besties, Onella, has an excellent eye when it comes to design. Being an online creator, she needed an invite that she should share in her content on the day that wouldn’t detail her address. In below examples, I have censored out their address for privacy. The version you see to the left is the “content-safe” (for lack of better term) version!

Moodboards

I love a moodboard and I especially love a moodboard annotated by Onella, as a visual person (duh) this gave me a flying start as to what Onella likes. This is the moodboard for the entire event she plans to host at home, being to plan a visual concept ahead of time helps her with knowing what content she’d like to capture on the day for her social media accounts.

First Round of Ideation

Other than Onella’s colour scheme, I wanted to prioritise incorporating specific elements that would make this invitation unique. Those being, the exact colour of the ring box as Onella requested and the floral theme. It’s important for me to credit the illustrator of these flowers, Jonatan Xavier, my style of illustration is more simplistic and Jonatan illustrated the style of flowers I was keen on replicating for Onella. (Bottom right of the second moodboard specfically). The teal box is a placeholder for the illustration I planned on sketching, the ring. Even sketched two rings, only to find out that Ryan doesn’t have an engagement ring - inaccuracy doesn’t sit well with me in that regard. First Round Submission

I understood that yellow was the primary colour in her moodboard, her dress being the pale yellow, but the dark teal colour enhanced the legibility of the text.

The Finishing Touches

A pale yellow background instead of white, omitting “Onella” in the RSVP line so that her partner Ryan could send the invite and also receive RSVPs were two of the edits made. Rewording of the copy to focus less on it being a garden party and I added a love heart after “our home” as to add a sentimental touch but also help with filling that space. “At our home” was replaced with Onella and Ryan’s home address, receiving two versions of the invite.
