Bee You Counselling

December 2020

Creation of logo, brand colours and business card for Glenda’s Counselling business

Detailed is my design process from logo ideation to final product of the business card!

Logo Ideation

Dashed Line Sketches

Playing with the dashed line element and font. The dash line creates movement throughout the logo and I was experimenting with how the eye would move and what is priority in terms of hierarchy: reading the business name first and then following the bee’s movement through the text or vice versa.

Bumblebee and Honeycomb Sketches

Many different styles of bees! Depending on the style of bee, it can set the brand’s tone from a glance: more cartoon-like bee appeals to a younger audience, whilst the detailed bee is more refined choice. Experimented with the honeycomb visual, the tessellating hexagons provide many different stylised options.

Explore the idea

You’re a brand new business, looking for your brand identity. Your logo is of utmost importance in this journey - visually representing both your values and how you would like your business to be perceived by your target audience.

Bee You Counselling’s logo needed to have an open, approachable feel as counselling provides a safe place for conversation and healing. As an additional bonus, the client was keen on representing her love of gardening and the yellow and black of her favourite sports.

It was clear from the beginning that font was going to play a large part in this logo. Soft cursive, modern san serifs and particular letters incorporating the bee’s trail.

Refine it.

Towards the end of the digital refinement phase, the end media is strongly considered. Will the logo be applied to different surfaces or displayed in alternative ways - like on a t-shirt, on a drink bottle or utilised in a promotional video. In this case, the client required the logo to feature on a standard business card and on the official website. The client only required the logo to be a static horizontal orientation and a transparent background, so the logo can be featured on both white backgrounds and the brand colour of yellow too!

Bee You

Minimalistic, cute and playful this bee needed to be! Lots of different vector variations, until we found the right bee for Bee You Counselling.
